Memorial statue of Lucas’s grandad recreated from photographs
The memorial statue of Lucas’s grandad that helped inspire StatYou.

It began with a statue of my grandad.

After his grandad passed away, StatYou founder Lucas wanted to create a physical statue of him. There was no 3D scan to work from, but there were family photographs. Those images became the reference for recreating his appearance, clothing and features as a digital model, which could then be printed.

That experience helped turn an interest in 3D technology into StatYou. Read Lucas’s full story.

Working with the photographs you already have.

You may not have every angle or a recent set of portraits. Start by sharing the clearest images available. A front-facing photograph, side views, and pictures of familiar clothing can each contribute useful information.

Older photographs may be useful if enough detail is visible. We will review what you have and discuss what can reasonably be recreated. A single unclear photograph may not give enough information for the likeness you want.

The details that feel like them.

Tell us about a favourite outfit, a characteristic expression or a pose you associate with the person. Add supporting pictures where you can. The model involves artistic interpretation, so we confirm what is achievable rather than promising an exact copy of every detail.

A personal keepsake, at your own pace.

You can commission a statue for yourself or discuss one with family members. If you are considering it as a bereavement gift, think about the recipient’s wishes and timing; a likeness is a very personal choice.

The enquiry page allows you to request additional copies. Discuss whether family members would like the same model, along with the size and finish, before the order is confirmed.

Choose the format for your keepsake.

A head and bust starts at an estimated £95 for one 25 cm model. A full standing statue starts at an estimated £120 for one 25 cm model. The enquiry form also offers 35 cm and 45 cm sizes, with higher guide prices.

Marble effect, white, grey and black are listed finishes. You can also enquire about hand painting; the form adds an estimated £30, with the final painting cost depending on the reference. Delivery and the final quote are confirmed before payment.

Enquire about a bust or enquire about a standing statue.

Discuss the intended display location.

These are 3D printed display pieces. Do not assume they are suitable for an outdoor memorial or grave: ask us about your intended use, and read the material and care information before ordering.

Your questions, answered.

Can you make a statue of someone who has passed away?

Yes, provided there are enough suitable photographs to use as reference. No previous scan is required. We review the images and confirm what is achievable before payment.

What if I only have old photographs?

Send the clearest versions available, including different views if possible. Suitability depends on visible detail and the available references, and we will assess these personally.

Can you recreate a particular outfit?

Include pictures of the outfit and explain why it matters to you. We will discuss whether the references provide enough detail for the requested model.

Will the result be an exact photographic likeness?

A statue is a three-dimensional artistic interpretation based on the supplied references. Image quality, missing angles and the printing process affect the result; see the order terms for more detail.
